About Manorama Prakashan

Manorama Prakashan – Celebrating 50 Years of Publishing Quality Literature

Founded in 1977 by Shri Anil Raghunath Phadke, Manorama Prakashan is one of Maharashtra’s leading and most respected publishing houses. Headquartered in Mumbai, we have dedicated nearly five decades to enriching lives through books that educate, inspire, entertain, and preserve India’s literary and cultural heritage.

From a single vision to a catalogue of over 3,000 titles, Manorama Prakashan has grown into a trusted name among readers, authors, educators, libraries, and booksellers. Our commitment has always been to publish books of lasting value while nurturing generations of readers.

Our Journey

Our publishing journey began with the novel Sanman by renowned author and former Ratnagiri MLA Kusum Abhyankar. The response was extraordinary—the first edition of 2,100 copies sold out within just fourteen days, setting the foundation for what would become an enduring publishing legacy.

This early success was followed by acclaimed publications such as Bombay CID by Jayant Ranade and Vidroha by Vyankatesh Mahajan, establishing Manorama Prakashan as a publisher committed to quality storytelling and meaningful literature.

One of the defining moments in our history came when mystery novels were gradually disappearing from the market. While many publishers discontinued the genre or continued printing them on inexpensive newsprint, Shri Anil Phadke made the bold decision to publish these books on high-quality white paper. His foresight helped preserve the works of legendary mystery writers such as Baburao Arnalkar, Narayan Dharap, and Gurunath Naik, ensuring that this beloved genre remained accessible to generations of readers.

Publishing with Purpose

Shri Anil Phadke believed that publishing was not merely about printing books—it was about understanding readers.

He continuously studied changing reading habits, market trends, and the evolving interests of society, asking questions that still guide us today:

  • What do readers truly want?
  • Which subjects are relevant to society?
  • Which authors create a lasting impact?
  • How can quality books reach every home?

This reader-first philosophy became the cornerstone of Manorama Prakashan’s growth and continues to shape every publishing decision we make.

A Rich Literary Legacy

Over the years, Manorama Prakashan has had the privilege of publishing works by many of Maharashtra’s most respected authors and literary personalities, including Acharya P. K. Atre, Swatantryaveer Vinayak Damodar Savarkar, Baburao Arnalkar, Narayan Dharap, Pradeep Dalvi, Gurunath Naik, Shrikant Sinkar and many more respected authors.

We have also published distinguished authors across a wide range of disciplines, including medicine, law, education, spirituality, astrology, music, children’s literature, history, and reference works.

Today, our catalogue spans more than 20 categories, offering books that cater to readers of every age and interest.
